An upper class funeral begins the first of a five day ceremony with a procession. The body is paraded around the village on a duba duba, trailing behind is a long red ribbon and sometimes a wooden statue resembling the dead. At the end of the procession the body is carried up into a temporary tower built for the ceremony. It will stay here until the final day of a five day funeral ceremony near Rantepao, Sulawesi, Indonesia. In many upper class funerals a statue called a tau tau is carved out of wood to resemble the deceased, like this one of Sampe Rara' Tambing, who died at the age of 79. Family members spent $2,000 or 20 million rupiah to have this build. Translators: Yacob Kakke' ---- +628124 1652407 Erich Parwatha - parwatha@gmail.com +62813-5566-2992
